CIKM 2025 will be an in-person conference, and we expect that authors submitting papers for review will have engaged in a discussion prior to submission that includes an agreement as to which author(s) will attend the conference should the paper be accepted, and also an understanding of how that attendance will be funded. Shortly after acceptance of any paper, we will expect one or more authors of each paper to register for the conference, and to immediately commence the process of obtaining a visa (if required) and securing travel bookings.
However, we also understand that there may be situations in which visas are not granted, or are not granted early enough. Provided you are (a) able to show us that you have made all reasonable efforts to attend the conference in person, including applying for a visa in a timely manner; (b) that no other author of the paper can attend to present the work in-person; and (c) there is no suitable non-author who can be requested to step in and present the work on your behalf, then we may permit on-line presentation. Alternatively, even given the same chain of circumstances, we reserve the right to decide that your paper will not be scheduled into a live conference session and that its presentation will be bypassed in the conference program.
Please note the clear expectation that submission of a paper should only be included in the proceedings if at least one author is committed to making all reasonable efforts to attend the conference, including making visa applications and travel bookings in a timely manner. Papers for which no author conference registration is received by the early bird deadline risk being dropped from the proceedings and removed from the conference schedule.
